For those of you who are considering running for the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee (also known as the Los Angeles County Democratic Party), below you will find some important information you will need to know.

The Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) is the official governing body of the Democratic Party in the County of Los Angeles. LACDP is the largest local Democratic Party entity in the United States, representing over 2.2 million registered Democrats.

On the Primary election ballot in even-numbered years, seven members are elected to LACDP in each Assembly District in the county.   The election for the 2010-2012 term for LACDP will be held on June 8, 2010. We encourage you to run for re-election or to consider running to be a member of LACDP.

Eligibility – Any Democrat registered to vote in Los Angeles County may file to run in their Assembly District. Filing Period – The filing period begins on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, and ends Friday, March 12, 2010, at 5:00 PM.

Filing Location – You may pick-up and submit candidate filing forms at the office of the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk at 12400 Imperial Highway in Norwalk.

NEW: Online Candidate Registration – Candidates for public offices including County Central Committees such as LACDP may register online when the filing period begins. You will still be required to pick up all relevant forms and documents at the County Registrar’s office in Norwalk.

Signatures – Each candidate is required to collect between 20 to 40 signatures from registered Democrats in the Assembly District in which you are running.
