For the first time, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party has issued early endorsements in several local races for the November 8, 2011 local elections.
Last year, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party amended its by-laws to include a Candidate Recruitment / Early Endorsement Track for local races, enabling LACDP to play a more influential role in winning seats and majorities for Democrats in Republican controlled districts. This track specifically allows LACDP in special circumstances to recruit, endorse, train and support candidates for local office on an accelerated timeline.

The regular LACDP endorsement process begins after the close of candidate filing deadline. For most November 2011 races, the close of candidate filing is in early or mid-August. Hence, the LACDP regular endorsement process will begin in late August.
