Organizational Update

By Adam Seiden, LACDP Executive Director.

In Tuesday’s Primary Election, Democrats throughout Los Angeles County voted to elect up to seven people per Assembly District to the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee.  Those Elected Members, plus Democrats elected to fill vacancies in the seven slots, along with theDemocratic leaders who are Ex-Officio to our committee, make up the Regular Members of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.

Those members will begin their new term at the July 9, 2012, Organizational Meeting.  At that meeting, members will be sworn-in, vacancies will be filled and officers will be elected at the Countywide and Assembly District Delegation level.  Details for the meeting will be made available shortly, but there are some steps members can take starting today to prepare for the meeting.

PayingAnnual Dues:

In order to be in good standing and cast a vote at the meeting, all members must first pay their annual dues.  Dues can be paid online here.  We encourage all members to pay as soon as possible.  Any dues paid after June 22, 2012, will be subject to an additional administrative fee.

Appointing an Alternate

All Regular Members are entitled to appoint one Alternate Member, who may vote and be counted for attendance purposes in their absence.  With the exception of voting at general meetings and in certain limited circumstances, Alternate Members carry the same rights and privileges as Regular Members of LACDP.

A signed Alternate Appointment Form must be submitted in order to appoint an Alternate.  You can find the Alternate Appointment Form here.  Please note that both the Alternate’s dues plus the appointing Regular Member’s dues must be paid inorder for an Alternate to vote at any meeting.

Completing the 2012 Member Survey:

At the beginning of each term LACDP surveys its members to update our contact records, collect important organizational information and determine which Standing Committees our members wish to be a part of for the coming term.

If you are a member of LACDP, please click here to complete your Member Survey today.  When noting your committee preferences, please be sure to make selections for no more than 5 committees.  You can find a brief description of the different committees here.
