The Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) has issued an early endorsement for Darrell Park for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, District 5. The Primary Election will be held on June 7, 2016.
Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chair and California Democratic Party Vice Chair Eric C. Bauman said of the endorsement of Darrell Park:
“Darrell Park is a strong progressive who will stand up for Los Angeles County’s most vulnerable, fight to reform our foster care and criminal justice systems, ensure continued investment in green energy, and work to keep our air and drinking water clean and safe. The 5th Supervisorial District represents a tremendous pickup opportunity for Democrats, considering our registration edge. Darrell gives us the best chance to turn this seat blue in many years and that’s why the Los Angeles County Democratic Party is proud to stand with Darrell Park, because we know he stands with our community.”
LACDP by-laws provide for a Candidate Recruitment / Early Endorsement Track for certain local races, enabling LACDP to play a more influential role in winning seats and majorities for Democrats in historically Republican controlled districts. This track specifically allows LACDP in special circumstances to recruit, endorse, and support candidates for local office on an accelerated timeline. The regular LACDP endorsement process begins after the close of the candidate filing deadline for a given election.
