The unauthorized use of Los Angeles County Democratic Party logo and its misleading offensive language in the mailer has no place in our community

REVISED: LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) has learned that a mailer was sent regarding the Carson City Council elections featuring inflammatory language and using the LACDP logo and name without authorization.

“The Los Angeles County Democratic Party does not condone the type of outrageous and misleading attack portrayed in the mailer in the City of Carson. Not only does it mischaracterize the position of the candidate who was attacked, it uses the LACDP logo without authorization. This type of cynical 11th-hour attack cannot be tolerated and should be rejected by the voters of Carson,” said Eric C. Bauman, Chair of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party.

The LACDP Policy Committee (Executive Board) will review the content of the language used in this misleading mailer and consider appropriate action at its next meeting.

(The original release indicated that mailer originated from the Mexican American Democratic Club. Upon investigation, this mailer was not paid for by the Mexican American Democratic Club. The Democratic Club leadership claims that it did not authorize the use of its name in this mailer. Further investigation is pending.)

Using dirty political tricks while campaigning in the City of Carson by the Mayor Jim Dear is nothing new. Jim Dear will do anything to get his way and he does in fact want Elito Santerina on his side as that gives him the majority of vote on that poor City Council. As long as the residents of Carson continue to swallow Jim Dear's lies and misconceptions, then Carson will remain in the clutches of this diabolical lying individual. Will Carson residents EVER WAKE-UP??? Hopefully soon and before it is too late. Get rid of Jim Dear and just maybe Carson will be able to survive the next five years of a deficit of nine million dollar per year.

Before the Los Angeles County Democratic Central Committee declares that a Democratic club has been so abhorrent, perhaps they should actually READ the flyer in question! I know some of the members of the Mexican-American Democratic Club and I also know that the club has very little financing at the moment, they certainly cannot afford to mail a flyer to ANYONE! The flyer that you are complaining about clearly states that it was produced by the Friends of Elito Santarina Committee, NOT the club. From what I gather, the club didn't even know about the flyer. The logo used on the flyer is not that of the Mexican-American Democratic Club, which has only just been designed. Perhaps you should apologize to the officers of the Mexican-American Democratic Club, whom I presume you didn't consult before putting up your rant.

As newly elected President of the Mexican American Democratic Club, I Dan Medina will clear the air about this nonsense.
First of all, the MADC "DID NOT" send out any literature endorsing or otherwise.
Secondly, none of the above Logo's are ours nor have we ever used them.
and of course, lastly,…………."READ" AND SEE WHO PAID FOR THE MAILER !!!!!
that would be good for starters………….any questions???

I am Jules Manson, candidate for Member of the City Council in Carson, California. The Democratic Party IS NOT your friend because it is part of the two-party system whose aim is to grow government for the benefit of the public-sector labor unions. If you really want reforms you must begin by reforming yourself. Please view my article on voting advice for more on this. http://julesmanson.com/voting-advice/

    The following is an excerpt:

Avoid any candidates who accept campaign donations. Such candidates have already sold off your vote to their biggest donors. In wider elections, other than city, it is often necessary to accept donations however one must now scrutinize who is funding their campaigns in order to determine where their loyalties lean.

Avoid incumbents who left behind a deficit or voted to place deceptive measures or propositions on ballot. They can no longer be trusted.

Avoid anyone who is pro public-sector labor unions (government workers) or is a representative of one. Such elected officers tend to grow government and run spending into deficits which are later covered with higher taxes. Do not confuse this with private unions such as Teamsters which are vital for protecting skilled laborers against slanted business policies and corporatism.

Thank you for the rewrite. I don't think that this instance of carelessness affected the election's outcome in Carson, but future elections may be fought primarily on Facebook and Twitter. You should try to get input from both sides of such issues, not just the opponents of those you endorsed. Like you I am always opposed to misleading or untrue 11th-hour mailers, from ANY party. And you should pursue every instance of unauthorized use of the LACDP name or symbol. You should also pursue flyers merely implying that a candidate in our county has the endorsement of the "Democratic Party" when the LACDP has not endorsed that candidate. I've seen that too many times over the years, often in last-minute slate mailers. I don't know whether you've got rules about whether candidates can claim to be endorsed by the Democratic Party if they've only been endorsed by a chartered Democratic Club and not by the entire County Committee. Maybe you should draw up such rules, also disallowing unchartered Democratic Clubs from making such representations.
