LACDP Opposes the “No Blank Checks” Initiative

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) voted to oppose the so-called “No Blank Checks” initiative, a measure put on the ballot by a conservative Republican millionaire farmer, that seeks to limit our state’s ability to meet the needs of our growing and aging population. LACDP Chair and California Democratic Party Vice Chair Eric C. Bauman said of the vote to oppose the measure:

“The deceptively-named “No Blank Checks” initiative is a dangerous measure put forth by a mega-rich conservative Republican farmer for his own pecuniary interests that will only serve to make it harder for California to make the critical infrastructure investments we need to drive us forward. Revenue bond-based projects would be immediately put at risk and billions of dollars worth of other projects would be in jeopardy as well. It is telling that organizations from across the political spectrum, from the Cal Chamber to the State Building trades, and now the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, stand united against this terrible measure. We urge all Californians to reject the “No Blank Checks” initiative in November.”
