Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) Chair and California Democratic Party (CDP) Vice-Chair Eric C. Bauman released the following statement on today’s Democratic National Committee (DNC) leadership elections:
“I’m thrilled that the Democratic National Committee has re-elected Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz as Chair. Our Party will benefit greatly from her continued leadership as we promote President Obama’s second-term agenda, build on the successes of 2012 and fight to take back the House of Representatives in 2014.
“I send special congratulations to LACDP member Maria Elena Durazo upon her election as DNC Vice-Chair. As the Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the LA County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, Maria Elena has been a longtime ally, dedicated to protecting those who are most vulnerable and promoting progressive change in LA and throughout California. Democrats all across the country will now benefit as she steps into leadership at the DNC.
“I also congratulate all of the other officers who won election. LA Democrats look forward to working with President Obama and the new leaders of the Democratic National Committee to continue moving America forward.”
