A Tribute to Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte

The education community has lost a giant. Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte always spoke up for all LAUSD students and employees. She was a well trained educator and used those experiences as an effective Board member.

Dr. LaMotte was very concerned that District One received the resources that were so gravely needed. Marguerite Poindexter Lamotte was often the lone voice on many votes. This seemed to make her more determined than ever to advocate on behalf of the students and teachers.

She worked in many capacities for LAUSD but her pride and joy was Washington Preparatory High School. As a Principal there she developed several new programs that continue today. The Washington High School Jazz Band for example is now world renowned.

We will truly miss Mrs. Lamotte. She was one of the best at her profession.

Gone too soon… Rest in peace Marguerite Poindexter LaMotte.
