LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chair and California Democratic Party Vice Chair Eric C. Bauman issued the following statement on Mitt Romney:

“During Saturday’s GOP Presidential Debate, Governor Romney proved yet again how out of touch he is with middle-class Americans when he proposed a $10,000 bet to Governor Rick Perry regarding whether or not he flip-flopped his position on individual healthcare mandates…which, by the way, he did.

“While $10,000 may not be much to a mega-millionaire who made his fortune shipping American jobs overseas, the fact that he so cavalierly bet what most middle-class families earn in several months is just the latest example of a man who has no idea what average Americans are struggling with in this economy.

“This is a guy who is so disconnected that while talking about the economy he joked that he was ‘unemployed,’ called a tax cut that put $1,500 in the pockets of middle-class families a ‘Band-Aid’ and who even said ‘corporations are people…’

“Mitt Romney, with an estimated worth of $250 Million – enough to make Saturday’s $10,000 wager twenty five thousand times – is the most out of touch Presidential candidate in our nation’s history.”
