The final voter registration numbers released prior to the November election show that Los Angeles County is increasingly Democratic. The Secretary of State now reports that LA County has more than 2.4 million registered Democrats, exceeding 51% of LA’s voters, while Republicans are now fewer than 22%. These new registrations help ensure that LA will remain the Big Blue Beacon of Hope for Democrats nationwide for years to come.
LACDP Chair Eric C. Bauman:
“The Secretary of State’s newly available online voter registration function has greatly contributed to the increase in Democratic voters in Los Angeles County, especially among younger people. With 2.4 million Democrats, I know LA will have a key role in helping re-elect President Obama and Senator Feinstein, passing Proposition 30, and beating back Proposition 32.
“It’s terrific to have so many newly registered Democrats in Los Angeles, but we know we must make sure they get out and vote on Tuesday, and that’s what the Los Angeles County Democratic Party will be focused on over these next four days.”
The Secretary of State reports that Democrats make up more than 43% of California’s voters statewide and, for the first time ever, Republicans now represent fewer than 30% of voters.
