Los Angeles Rabbi Steven Jacobs Responds to Carly Fiorina’s Campaign Statement Regarding Her Trading with Iran

“Today, Carly Fiorina’s campaign responded to criticism from me and other leaders of the Los Angeles Jewish community who raised concerns about Carly Fiorina’s history of trading with Iran, a state sponsor of terrorist groups that target Israel.

“The only response from the Fiorina campaign was that these leaders were making baseless attacks.

“Fiorina’s response is all the more confusing because we based our criticism in part on a story in the Jewish Journal that reads, ‘Carly Fiorina, the Republican nominee in California, confirmed that HP sold printer ink in Iran…’ [Jewish Journal, August 4, 2010] Fiorina also confirmed her sales of HP equipment to Iran on CNN. [CNN, June 7, 2010]

“Is Carly Fiorina saying the Jewish Journal misled its readership, or is her campaign misleading the people of California?”

Steven Jacobs is Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Kol Tikvah in Los Angeles.
