Carly Fiorina is raking in Wall Street cash, rewarded for opposing Financial Reform.
“In June, Fiorina was the third biggest recipient of Wall Street industry cash, raking in $249,853, but Boxer, a previous top 25 recipient, failed to crack even the top 25 rank that month and brought in only $104,381 from the industry.” [Politico, 9/8/10] Fiorina opposed the law, according to a statement she released on her website on July 15.
And now, an anti-reform group, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is further rewarding Fiorina with “a multi-million dollar advertising attack in California on Wednesday night on U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer.” [Los Angeles Times, 9/9/10]
Tonight Fiorina Holds Fundraiser at the Home of Gene Ray, who was Titan Corp.’s CEO when it was plagued by serious ethical scandals.
“The party is at the home of Gene Ray, founder of Titan Corp., a military contractor that was linked to the prisoner abuse at the Abu Ghraib facility in Iraq. The company also paid $28.5 million in fines after it was accused of bribing the president of Benin.” [San Diego City Beat, 9/9/10]
Under Fiorina’s watch, her company also had problems with bribery. “The Wall Street Journal reported today that the U.S. government has joined German and Russian authorities in an investigation of the alleged bribes. The newspaper said the Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating whether HP committed any civil violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act as part of a widening probe into the company’s activities. According to the Journal, German prosecutors are looking into the possibility that HP executives paid about $11 million to win a contract of more than $35 million under which HP sold computer gear, through a German subsidiary, to the office of the prosecutor general of the Russian Federation.” [Sacramento Bee, 4/15/10]
