Resolution in Support of Move Los Angeles Forward

Whereas, the MTA Board voted to unanimously support Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s 30/10 plan to expedite the start of Measure R’s transit construction programs by seeking the federal government’s help to acquire bridge loans that will be paid back by Measure R’s tax increments, and

Whereas, Senator Boxer, the Los Angeles County Supervisors ad many municipal governments support the acceleration of funding and the 150,000 construction jobs and the thousands more maintenance jobs that would be created in L.A.’s depressed economy by doing 30 years of future projects in the next ten years, and

Whereas, the construction of Measure R projects would create a transit system that would alleviate congestion from Palmdale to Pomona, the Westside to the South Bay and this construction would offer citizens the option of leaving fossil fuel dependent vehicles at home while being able to travel the L.A. basin with ease.

Therefore be it resolved, that the Los Angeles County Democratic Party calls upon the California Congressional Delegation to implement the 30/10 plan without delay.
