Resolution on Proposed NFL Football Stadium in City of Industry
Whereas, Majestic Realty has proposed the construction of an NFL football stadium, entertainment and retail complex in the City of Industry and the City of Industry has approved this project, which promises thousands of much needed short-term and long-term jobs for the eastern San Gabriel Valley region, while promoting economic growth in the region;
Whereas, the proposed NFL football stadium, entertainment and retail complex may cause environmental and quality of life impacts to the region and some nearby communities and environmental regulatory and oversight agencies have expressed concerns about these impacts and the City of Industry’s approval process for this project;
Whereas, the Democratic Party has consistently championed the preservation of our natural environment, while seeking to build healthy, livable and sustainable communities that conserve natural resources, promote smart growth, are economically prosperous, create jobs and are socially equitable;
Therefore be it resolved, that the Los Angeles County Democratic Party recognizes the positive economic impact for the eastern San Gabriel Valley region and after consideration, now conditionally supports the proposed NFL football stadium, entertainment and retail complex in the City of Industry conditional upon the concerns related to environmental impact being mitigated;
Therefore be it further resolved, that copies of this resolution be transmitted to interested parties, including the City of Industry, neighboring cities, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, local legislators, environmental regulatory and oversight agencies, the NFL Site Selection Committee, and the media, and that appropriate follow-up be conducted to ensure that the issues raised in this resolution are addressed.
