Resolution Supporting the Elimination of Los Angeles Community College District Runoff Elections
WHEREAS, election for the Boards of Trustees of Community College Districts in Los Angeles County have millions of potential voters and ever changing voter turnouts, and
WHEREAS, in many of these Community College races runoffs are common and have all these problems plus miniscule voter turnouts; and
WHEREAS, these elections are an expensive burden on the Candidates, the taxpayers and the Los Angeles County Democratic Party
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Los Angeles County Democratic Party support the abolition of run-off elections for the Boards of Trustees for Los Angeles County Community Colleges and have the election of community college trustees be by plurality vote; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Los Angeles County Democratic Party inform the body that establishes the regulations for community college elections of this position.
