LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chair Mark J. González released the following statement on the Passing of Chair of the California Democratic African American Caucus Darren Parker:

“The Los Angeles County Democratic Party is sorry to lose another great champion of the people with the passing of the Chair of the California Democratic Party African American Caucus Darren Parker. Chair Parker, former CDP Region Director, helped pave the way for helping to turn the Antelope Valley Blue.

Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chair Mark J. González could count on Chair Parker regardless of how ill he was, “he was instrumental in helping turn one of the last red Congressional seats blue this past fall”. “He helped harness Democratic enthusiasm in Los Angeles County’s reddest hot spots and was able to see his work bloom.”

He bravely fought his battle against cancer and kept his commitment to empower and engage his community. He leaves us to continue the work for him. We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.”
