LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County Democratic Party Vice Chair Bobbie Jean Anderson and Corresponding Secretary Patt Sanders released the following statement following President Trump’s remarks calling Haiti and African nations “shithole countries”:

“President Trump can’t seem to go a single month without making racist remarks against entire peoples. The fact that he asked why the U.S. allows people from ‘shithole countries’ to emigrate instead of people from countries like Norway the day before his Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day proclamation is a horrendous slap in the face to the African American community and to every decent human being in the United States. It is reminiscent of how he honored Navajo code-talkers in front of a portrait of Andrew Jackson while referring to Sen. Elizabeth Warren as ‘Pocahontas.’ It was unacceptable then and it is unacceptable now.

“We are sick and tired of the vitriolic racism consistently spewing from the President. The United States is losing its moral authority on the world stage with every passing day that Trump sits in the Oval Office, and it will soon go away entirely if nothing changes.

“Americans have worked too hard for too long to unify the United States and work toward full equality for some despotic ignoramus to take it all away. He should know that every time he discharges his alt-right white nationalist racism, we are ever more inspired to work toward his removal from office for the ultimate betterment of the United States and the world.”
