LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chair and California Democratic Party Vice Chair Eric C. Bauman released the following statement on U.S. Representative Jane Harman’s (D-Venice) planned resignation from Congress:

“For nearly 20 years, Representative Jane Harman has been a nationally-recognized leader in Congress on anti-terrorism and security issues and an outspoken fighter for the people of Los Angeles.

“Today, we meet the news of Representative Harman’s departure from Congress to lead the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. with both sadness and excitement.

“Her exceptional service and leadership in Congress will be missed, yet we look forward with anticipation at her new role, leading our nation’s premiere scholarly foreign policy think tank.

“On behalf of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, we extend our congratulations to Representative Harman. We know that she will continue to serve our nation well.”

Look forward to the great Democratic leaders in this Harbor/South Bay/Venice district stepping forward to be considered as the next Congresswoman/man to the US House of Representatives.
