Support Government Adherence to Contractual Obligations to U.S. Soldiers and "End Stop Loss" Procedures
Whereas, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party has supported veterans in their fight for government adherence to contractual obligations, including a date certain for leaving military service, and adequate funding of veterans benefits, and access to the quality medical services; and
Whereas, U.S. troops returning from Iraq suffer from severe health problems including major injuries, exposure to depleted uranium, and post traumatic stress disorder and many veterans have difficulty obtaining health care for these health problems from the Veterans Administration; and
Whereas, U.S. troops are being subjected to the unfair practice of "stop loss" policies, in which military personnel are kept on active duty past their contracted date for leaving military service;
Therefore be it resolved, that the Los Angeles County Democratic Party supports adequate funding of veteran's benefits and delivery of quality health care by the Veterans Administration while opposing "stop loss" procedures; and
Therefore be it further resolved, that the Los Angeles Democratic Party inform Democratic members of the California Congressional Delegation of this position.
