Help Our Veterans Get Good Jobs:
Call on Senator Feinstein to
Support the Employee Free Choice Act!

Dear Fellow Democrats:

Please help us convince Senator Dianne Feinstein to support the Employee Free Choice Act.

First, click on this link and spend five minutes watching veterans testify at the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor’s “Veterans and Jobs” Town Hall with U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis.

The video will break your heart and make your blood boil! Watch these brave men and women tell their stories about their struggles trying to find jobs that pay them what they made defending America. It’s just wrong!

Then, forward the video to your friends, co-workers, neighbors, and relatives. Finally, call Senator Feinstein’s office at (202) 224-3121 and ask your friends to do the same. Senator Feinstein needs to make a choice, and we hope that she will decide to stand with America’s veterans and working families.

Let’s make sure our veterans get good jobs and help put the economy back on track - call on Senator Feinstein today and ask her to support the Employee Free Choice Act.

You can make a difference!

Democratically yours,

Eric C. Bauman
Chair

Stand with President Obama: Reform Health Care in 2009

June 19th, 2009

Stand with President Obama

Reform Health Care in 2009

President Obama has called for health care reform in 2009 that upholds three core principles. It must:

Reduce costs — Rising health care costs are crushing the budgets of governments, businesses, individuals, and families, and they must be brought under control

Guarantee choice — Every American must have the freedom to choose their plan and doctor – including the choice of a public insurance option

Ensure quality care for all — All Americans must have quality and affordable health care

Visit the Organizing for America website now for more information and see how you can become involved and help America reform health care.

National Health Care Day of Service

This summer, Organizing for America will fight to ensure Americans receive much-needed health care reform in 2009. Community service is a critical piece of our health care campaign and our National Health Care Day of Service on June 27, 2009 will highlight its importance.

These health care service projects give volunteers a chance to make an impact in their own communities while we simultaneously fight for long term, systemic health care reform.

Visit the Organizing for America website and get involved at a health care service project near you.

Protect Californians: Stop the Severe Budget Cuts, Support A Balanced Budget Solution

Protect Californians: Stop the Severe Budget Cuts

Support A Balanced Budget Solution

Take Action Now!

Send a letter to the editor.
Get talking points about the budget.
Contribute to LACDP’s fight against budget cuts!

Dear fellow Democrats:

Our state continues to face a tremendous budget shortfall, and the Governor’s latest budget proposal includes deep cuts that will devastate the lives of millions of Californians and worsen California’s economy. Democrats have always stood up for the people of California, fighting to guarantee funding for critical services and programs and protecting those who are at greatest risk.

In contrast, the Republican legislative minority and their lame duck Governor have time and again conspired to block adoption of reasonable budgets and sources of new revenue. They have attempted to divide Democratic legislators and our allies by refusing to vote for budgetary proposals and literally holding the state hostage in order to advance their partisan and individual political agendas, without regard for those most vulnerable and most impacted by their actions.

California’s budget must reflect the needs of our people, the services we need, and the means to pay for them. We need a balanced budget solution that includes new revenues in addition to cuts.

Now, we must speak out. Join us in calling on all Legislators to protect Californians, minimize the most severe cuts and support a balanced budget solution!

Democratically yours,

Eric C. Bauman
Chair
Los Angeles County Democratic Party

Resolution on the California State Budget

June 12th, 2009

Resolution on the California State Budget

Whereas, California faces a budget shortfall that today exceeds $24 billion and which may yet grow larger; this shortfall may have potentially devastating effects on real Californians who depend on the state for public safety, education, healthcare and social services;

Whereas, the Democratic Party and Democratic elected officials have committed to protecting those who are at greatest risk and who are most dependant on the state for essential government services; and Democrats have always stood up for the people of California, fighting to guarantee funding for critical services and programs;

Whereas, the tyranny of the Republican legislative minority and the political weakness of California’s lame duck Governor have time and again conspired to block adoption of reasonable budgets and sources of new revenue; and have attempted to divide Democratic legislators and their allies by refusing to vote for budgetary proposals and literally holding the state hostage to advance their partisan and individual political agendas, without regard for those most vulnerable and most impacted by their actions;

Therefore be it resolved, that the Los Angeles County Democratic Party calls on all Democratic Legislators to stand firmly united to uphold the values of the Democratic Party, by fighting to protect those at greatest risk and most dependant on our government, while resisting those compromises that would cause long term injury to our state and its people, and to just say “NO” to the Governor and Republicans in the State Legislature when asked to cut critical programs to children, the elderly and the disabled.

Be it further resolved, that the Los Angeles County Democratic Party transmit this resolution to all Democratic Legislators, demanding they work to responsibly resolve the state’s budget crisis, seeking to ensure that California is once again the Golden State.
