#TrumpCheck - The Lies About the First 100 Days

We are officially in the 101st day of the second Trump administration, and let's all take a second to be grateful we've made it this far... only 3 2/3rds more years to go,

Happy Wednesday, and welcome back to our #TrumpCheck series, the LACDP's weekly newsletter that holds the Trump administration accountable for its lies, deception, and self-serving actions.

Last night, Donald Trump held his first rally since his campaign to mark his first 100 days in office. Unsurprisingly, the long-winded, ranting, sweaty speech was marred by lies, tangents, threats, and vile rhetoric. Today, we are here to debunk some of the falsehoods that Trump took the opportunity to spread about his first 100 days as President.

FACT: Trump's first 100 days have been far from successful. Congress has only passed six bills, the fewest of any presidential administration's first 100 days in the last 70 years. While Trump has signed 142 Executive Orders since taking office on January 20th, over 70 rulings have been delivered by federal judges impeding Trump's efforts. These rulings come as a result of over 220 lawsuits being filed in courts across the country challenging the legality of Trump's actions.

FACT: The US inflation rate is currently sitting at 2.39%, but this is not to Trump's credit. Inflation started falling long before Trump even stepped foot in the Oval Office for a second time. Since June 2022, when the inflation rate peaked at 9.1%, it has been consistently dropping throughout the remainder of Biden's term. As for improving the cost of living, that's another campaign promise that's fallen short.

And finally...

FACT: At the end of the first 100 days, Trump is the least popular President, of any party affiliation, in the history of modern polling. Even Fox News, perhaps Trump's closest ally in the media, polled his approval rating at only 44%. More objective sources, like the Associated Press, put his approval in the 30% range. The most popular Republican President in history is President George W. Bush, hitting a peak of 92% approval rating in the months immediately following 9/11.

Donald Trump thinks that because he can trick his billionaire buddies into believing in him, he can trick the American people. We won't be fooled; all this administration has done in the last 100 days is try, unsuccessfully, to take over our government to line their pockets with more cash.

The first step in fighting back against the Trump administration is setting the record straight; correcting misinformation is a job for us all. If you had this email forwarded to you, you can sign up for the #TrumpCheck newsletter here

We'll be back at defending the truth next week. Until then, stay tuned on our social media channels, linked below for information about the LACDP's fight against Trump.
